iOS 10 push notifications

iOS 10 Features

From versions 6.0 and up of the iOS SDK, you can benefit from the new iOS 10 features.

You will find on this page a presentation of these new features as well as our recommendations for an optimized display of your notifications.

To discover the new features on the interface, simply go to Actions > Push notifications > New message.

Title and subtitle:

You can now send a notification push by assigning it a title and a subtitle. The field " Message body " replaces the field "Message" which constitute the message content for devices on iOS versions previous to iOS 10.

These 3 fields are compatible with emoticons and personalization fields.

Attachments:

Through different proposed templates, you can add multimedia content to your message.

Here are the different notification push formats according to the selected template:

Simple Notification:

This notification format contains a title, a subtitle and a text. However, for users on iOS versions previous to iOS 10, the message will be displayed without the title and subtitle.

To benefit from this format, no specific template is required. You can leave the "Template" field on its default value "none".

Notification with picture:

This notification format contains a title, a subtitle, a text and a picture.

On the Accengage interface, when you select the image template, you can download an image or enter its hosting URL directly. Note that it must be the file hosting URL and not a URL containing a reading component.

Notification with sound:

This notification format contains a title, a subtitle, a text and an audio file.

On the Accengage interface, when you select the audio template, you can enter directly the audio file URL. Note that it must be the file hosting URL and not a URL containing a reading component.

Notification with video:

This notification format contains a title, a subtitle, a text and a video.

On the Accengage interface, when you select the video template, you can enter directly the video file URL. Note that it must be the file hosting URL and not a URL containing a reading component.

Personalized notification (with one or more attachments):

This notification format requires the selection of the custom template on the Accengage interface and specific app developments.

This notification format contains a title, a subtitle, a text and one or more attachments. When you select the custom template, it is necessary to assign to each added attachment a login (ID) corresponding to the ID defined during the app developments.

Custom notification display:

The custom template's display on devices depends on the number and on the type of attachments added as well as the selected category of buttons. Note that by selecting the custom template, the field iOS category becomes obligatory and shows only the custom categories specifically developed for your app.

Below, you will find an example of a custom notification:

Delay dismiss:

The field "Delay dismiss" is a checkbox linked to a custom category button. Enabled, this allows to defer the deletion of the push on click of the relevant button. Indeed, a few seconds will go by before deletion of the push notification from the notification center allowing you to update the notification content before its deletion.

Note that this option requires specific app developments.
